Knotless means the braid feeds in gradually instead of being knotted at the root. We control tension all the way through. If anything feels tight, tell us and we'll redo it.
With a silk bonnet at night and weekly edge refresh, most clients keep their knotless install looking like the day they left for nine weeks. We send aftercare notes by WhatsApp.
Bohemian (curly ends), jumbo, medium and small. We'll advise on length and weight based on your hair density and lifestyle — yoga, swimming, dancing all factor in.
If any braid slips or your edges need a refresh in the first week, come back — free. We want the install to look like the install photo for the full nine weeks.
Traditional box braids start with a small knot at the root. That knot creates the snap-back that makes braids feel 'tight' — and over weeks of pulling, it causes hairline damage. Knotless solves both. The braider weaves your own hair in gradually, then feeds extension in as the braid lengthens. The result is the same look as box braids, with none of the tension headache, less weight, and noticeably less stress on your edges.
We install around 50 knotless heads a month. Knotless on natural 4C hair, knotless on chemically treated hair, knotless on tender-headed clients, knotless on brides who'll wear them under a veil. Every install ends the same way: a tour of the braid line in a hand mirror so you check the partings, a scalp oil application, and aftercare notes sent on WhatsApp the same evening. Come back in nine weeks. Or for an edge refresh whenever you need it.
All services are confirmed by WhatsApp before your appointment. No surprise add-ons.

Knotless Removal
Safe takedown — gentle on hair, deep conditioning included.
At Kigali Braids: medium and jumbo knotless braids are 35,000 RWF. Small knotless and bohemian knotless are 45,000 RWF. Removal is 12,000 RWF. Cornrows alone are 15,000 RWF.
Three to six hours depending on size and length. Jumbo: 3–3.5 hours. Medium: 4 hours. Small: 5–6 hours. Bohemian (with curly ends): 5 hours. We start when we said we would.
Six to nine weeks if you sleep in a silk bonnet, oil your scalp weekly, and refresh edges. Past nine weeks the braids start to look fuzzy and the new growth makes the parting drift — that's when to book the takedown.
For most people, yes — less tension, less weight, easier on the hairline. Box braids set faster (slightly cheaper, slightly heavier) and have a more uniform look at the root. We'll show you both styles on photos at the start of your appointment.
No — done right, knotless is much kinder to edges than traditional braids. The key is tension control during the install (our specialty) and a silk bonnet at night. Tell us at the start if you have sensitive scalp or weak edges.
Yes to both. Rinse with cool water after swimming pools (chlorine dries the braids), and let them air-dry. Tie hair back for workouts to avoid friction at the nape.
